Yay! This morning Costello peed straight into the hole in the middle of the tray with all 4 feet properly positioned on the toilet seat. I'm so impressed!
So far this whole toilet training process has gone way smoother than I ever would have imagined and to top it off it is having the desired effect of stopping him from using the floor or the side of the bathtub or the walls as targets. Plus it gives me something to praise him for and to really be happy about which I think makes him calmer and happier overall too. I think that toilet training might be a good exercise for any problem cat just for that reason - it might help to ease other problems too.
Still not sure how to get him to relocate his solid excrement and I think I'd better not graduate him to grade 3 until that issue has been dealt with. Otherwise I'm worried that splashing might scare him off the whole thing. With the current set up, I don't think that will be a problem. But how to go about it?!!?
